Welcome to Goat Automotive, a modern take on the automotive repair experience.
50-60% of what we do is consulting. We study the market and industry closely, and we advise customers on how best to care for their vehicles; handle a repair; what actions to avoid; and how to save money [long-term] on their vehicle ownership.
We also specialize in how to buy and sell a vehicle, to avoid overpaying on the front or back end. We even offer a written publication for customers documenting this process, so you can process the info at your own pace.
Low overhead due to tight controls on operating costs
This means we never need to force, pressure or manipulate a customer into a repair. It also allows us to offer an aggressively low labor rate to our customers.
We are consistently 30-35% less for a given repair than the larger national service centers and dealerships, with a drastically reduced turnaround time. (it’s not uncommon for a car to sit for days or weeks at a dealer before being touched, even with an appointment)
No middlemen, no curtains to hide behind.
The current business model at competitors is to have the actual repair technicians [fixing your car], out of contact from the customer. The front facing person helping you is called the service advisor (or service writer).
Most mechanics aren’t safe to deal with the general public: they’re famously blunt and honest when car owners (or auto engineers) make ignorant choices, and people tend to aggravate them. So on paper, this is a good business model centered around customer insulation.
The problem is…the majority of these front-facing actors know very little about cars, and have no interest in learning. For most of them, it’s “just a job” they clock in and out of. This observation isn’t speculation or conjecture: it’s pattern recognition from 23 years in this industry, working with or for MANY different dealerships and private shops.
You will regularly find the “average service advisor” parroting things they’ve heard, without any real comprehension for the “what and why” of it.
…This is why they have to struggle or backpedal when a customer asks them a basic “why” or how” question.
…And this is what leads to frequent miscommunications, misinformation, and conflicts within the repair process.
…This is why so many customers leave other auto shops with horror stories on the repair, the total cost, and (commonly) a car with unresolved issues.
This is one of the reasons Goat Automotive was formed in 2013: to buck this trend in sub-par car care!
Average repair savings of 25-30% compared to larger shops and dealerships – it truly pays to shop around, and to pay for quality when it matters most.
We work within our estimates.
No surprise charges or hidden fees at pickup. Anything additional will require written approval from you (the customer), and you will be notified during the repair upon discovery of any surprises or unforeseen problems.
This is part of our commitment to transparency, honesty and integrity.
Issues found on a car can be broken down and prioritized to save you on parts, labor, and to work within your budget.
Competitors will “shotgun blast” the customer and tell them they need thousands of dollars in repairs for their car to be drivable.
This drives consumers away from the entire auto repair experience, and often makes them reticent to even take their car in for basic services.
Comprehensive vehicle health assessment included with services. We produce some of the most thorough look-overs in the state of Texas, with hundreds of digital examples available upon request. We find the safety hazards other places ignore, and we give you affordable options to address them.
23-years experience in auto repair and performance.
There’s no substitution for experience. Sales, parts, service and repair…with domestic, Japanese and European makes: we’ve done it all, and the collective wisdom helps your customer experience. This allows us to be intimately familiar with your car and any issues native to it.
The average shop that “works on everything” usually only knows “a few things”, and hits a wall early in the diagnostic or repair process, due to lack of research or comprehension.
10-years in the amateur racing community, including NHRA drag racing, SCCA autocross, NASA and SCCA road course events. We handled all vehicle R&D in house, and tested it at the track.
We can communicate effectively in English and Spanish, and are conversational in Russian
Specialists in Audi/VW, Chevrolet/GM/Holden, Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, Ford, Mazda, Honda/Acura, Hyundai/Kia, Nissan/Infiniti, Toyota/Lexus
90-day labor warranty on every job, in writing.
This is unheard of with other small shops and private mechanics, and it protects your interests as a customer.
Gaskets and hard parts are warrantied for a full year, unless otherwise noted on your receipt.
Some parts carry longer warranties, depending on the manufacturer. We routinely offer a 3-yr, 36k mile warranty on brake and suspension parts.
<2% rate of labor claims and come-backs: This means that in 100 repairs, only 1-2 customers might have an issue with a repair. The industry average is 10-12% in Texas; as high as 20% at larger shops with “beginner technicians” and “parts swappers.” This is huge, and it proves our commitment to meticulous repairs and no cut corners.
GREEN: all old parts, packaging, metals and fluids are diligently recycled to reduce our carbon footprint. We hate waste!
We strive for excellence through simplicity: it's just you - the customer…communicating directly with your mechanic, who listens to your needs and frequently over-delivers.
This transparency is constant throughout the process with Goat Automotive. It restores a great deal of integrity, which has gone missing with other auto repair shops, and it is the cornerstone of our business model.
It's that painless. We can work with most schedules, we offer valet or mobile work on a case by case basis, and we’re ready to serve.
